                                                          Tag question

বর্ণনা বা বিবৃতি মুলক বাকের শেষে যে সংক্ষিপ্ত প্রশ্ন জুড়ে দেওয়া হয় তাকে tag question বলে।

Tag question –দু ভাবে সম্পূর্ণ হয়।

Affirmative tag

Negative tag.

Tag এর মধ্যে capital letter ব্যবহার করা যাবে না। শুধু Allah এর পরিবর্তে He এবং আমি অর্থে I . capital letter হবে।

বাক্যটি affirmative হলেtag হয় negative আর বাক্যটি negative হলে tag হবে affirmative.

Rules of tag question:

১। বাকের মধ্যে auxiliary verb থাকলে তার সাথে সংক্ষেপে not এবং subject নিতে হয়। [not থাকলে তা উঠে যায়। ]

Example:  He is a brilliant student, isn`t he?

২। বাকের মধ্যে auxiliary verb না থাকলে tense নির্ধারণ করতে হয়। present tense হলে do/does এবং past tense হলে did যোগ করতে হয়।

Example:  We learn English, don`t we?

They solved the problem, didn`t they?

Tag question

৩। বাকের মধ্যে am থাকলে are দ্বারা tag করতে হয় । তবে am not থাকলে am দ্বারা tag করতে হয়।

Example: I am a student, aren`t I?

I am not busy, am I?

৪। Imperative sentence হলে tag হবে will you? অন্যান্য modal দ্বারা ও করা যায়।

Example: open your book, will you?

৫। Do not দ্বারা শুরু হলে tag হবে will you?

Example: Do not disturb me, will you?

৬। Let me/let her/let him/let them দ্বারা বাক্য শুরু হলে tag হবে will you?

Example: Let me do it, will you?

৭। Let us দ্বারা বাক্য শুরু হলে tag হবে shall we?

Example: Let us go out for a walk, shall we?

৮। Exclamatory sentence –এ subject ও verb না থাকলে tag হবে isn`t it?

Example: How funny! isn`t it?

৯। বাকের sub হিসেবে the mother/ the father/ the sister/the brother থাকলে এবং abstract       quality বোঝালে ইহার পরিবর্তে it বসে।

Example: The mother rose in her, didn`t it?

১০। বাকের subject হিসেবে everybody/everyone/somebody/someone/nobody/no one/none etc থাকলে ইহার পরিবর্তে they বসে।

Example: Everybody wants success, don`t they?

১১। বাকের subject  হিসেবে nothing/something/anything/everything/baby etc থাকলে ইহার পরিবর্তে it বসে।

Example: Nothing is impossible, is it?

১২। বাকের মধ্যে hardly/scarcely/seldom/barely/little/few/never/nobody/none/nothing/no one etc থাকলে tag এ not যুক্ত হয় না।

Example: She hardly visits me, does she?

১৩। Complex sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে main clause এর tag question করতে হয়।

Example: when he came, I was reading, wasn`t I ?

১৪। Subject +think/ believe/know থাকলে উভয় clause দ্বারা tag করা যায়।

Example: I think you are Razzak Saheb, don`t I ?/ aren`t you?

১৫। No + noun

Every + noun

Some + noun থাকলে এগুলোর পরিবর্তে they বসে।

Example: No man can prosper in life without industry, can they?

১৬। বাকের subject হিসেবে যদি all of you/ some of you/ most of you/ none of you/ etc থাকে তবে tag এ you বসে।

Example: Most of you have failed, haven`t you?

১৭। বাকের subject যদি all of them/some of them/most of them/none of them/ everyone of them etc থাকে তবে tag এ they বসে ।

Example: Some of them did the job, didn`t they?

১৮। Please/kindly দ্বারা শুরু হলে tag হবে can you? /could you?

Example: please help me, can you?

১৯। Who cares/ who loves/who saves- এ ধরনের বাক্য হলে tag হয় do they?

Example: who loves, do they?

২০। বিভিন্ন person and দ্বারা যুক্ত হলেঃ

You and I = we

You and he = you

I and you= we

You, he and I =we

I and he = we

I ,he and you = we.

Example: I and he are doing the work, aren`t we?
