                                              Rules of passage narration

প্রথমে সমস্ত passage টি ভালো ভাবে পড়তে হবে। কে কথা বলছে ও কে কথা শুনছে তা খুজে বের করতে হবে। একই বক্তা একসাথে কয়টা কথা বলল এবং সেগুলো কোন Sentence এ আছে তা নির্ধারণ করতে হবে।

একই বক্তা পর পর কয়েকটি কথা বললে এবং সেগুলো Assertive sentence হলে

প্রথমবার  said এর পরিবর্তে told/ replied

দ্বিতীয়বার  said এর পরিবর্তে added

তৃতীয়বার  said এর পরিবর্তে further added.

একই বক্তা পর পর কয়েকটি কথা বললে এবং সেগুলো Interrogative  sentence হলে

প্রথমবার  said এর পরিবর্তে asked

দ্বিতীয়বার  said এর পরিবর্তে again asked

তৃতীয়বার  said এর পরিবর্তে also again asked/ further again asked.

 

Passage Narration

অন্যান্য sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে দ্বিতীয়বার আসলে again যোগ করতে হবে।

Rules.

1.       Yes এর পরিবর্তে Replied in the affirmative বসে।

2.       No এর পরিবর্তে Replied in the negative বসে।

** Yes/ No যিনি বলেন আগে তার নাম তারপর Replied in the affirmative/ Replied in the negative বসে।

যেমনঃ Jalal said, “Yes, I have done it.”

= Jalal replied in the affirmative and said that he had done it.

** Yes এর পরিবর্তে replied in the affirmative ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। বাকি অংশটুকু and দ্বারা যুক্ত করে assertive এর নিয়মে করা হয়েছে।

3.       Sir এর পরিবর্তে Respectfully/ Politely বসে। Yes, sir /No, sir থাকলে আগে Sir এর কাজ করতে হয়। যেমনঃ

**The student said, “Yes, sir, I will complete my lesson.”

=The student respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that he would complete his lesson.

4.       Reported speech –এ ‘Good-bye’ থাকলে- indirect করার সময়-

Subject + bade + object + good-bye.

**He said to me, “Good-bye”

=He bade me good-bye.

5.       Reported speech –এ ‘Thank you’ থাকলে- indirect করার সময়-

Subject + thanked + object.

**The stranger said, “Thank you.”

=The stranger thanked me.

6.       Reported speech –এ ‘good morning, good night, good evening, good afternoon etc’ থাকলে- indirectকরার সময়-

Subject + wished + object + good morning/ good night/good evening/ good afternoon.

**Robiul said his friend, “Good morning.”

=Robiul wished his friend good morning.

7.       Vocative case এর ক্ষেত্রে –

Addressing as + যা বলল + যে বলল + সাধারন নিয়ম...  

**Shaheen said , “Darling, please give me a glass of water.”

=Addressing as darling Shaheen requested to give him a glass of water.

8.       Reported speech –এ ‘By Allah, By Jove, By my life, By my love’ থাকলে- indirect করার সময়-

Swearing by + যা বলল + সাধারন নিয়ম... 

**Forhad said to Shiri, “By Allah, I will not forget you.”

=Swearing by Allah Forhad told Shiri that he would not forget her.

9.       Direct speech এ tag question যুক্ত থাকলে – বাক্যটি সাধারন নিয়মে করার পর and assumed that + tag অংশ।not থাকলে উঠে যাবে না থাকলে যোগ হবে।

** The teacher said to me, “You are a polite boy, aren`t you?”

=The teacher told me that I was a polite boy and assumed that I was.

10.   Wish, would, rather, it is high time এর পরের অংশ Tense পরিবর্তন হয় না।

11.   Sorry থাকলে তার পরিবর্তে expressed one`s sorrow বসে।

**The boy said, “Sorry, sir.”

The boy respectfully expressed his sorrow.

12.   Direct speech- এ Subject উল্লেখ না থাকলে The speaker এবং Object উল্লেখ না থাকলে The listener / The person spoken to ধরতে হয়।

** “Open your book”

=The speaker told the listener to open his book.

13.   Interrogative sentence এর উত্তর direct speech এ সংক্ষেপে থাকলেও indirect speech এ পূর্ণ sentence এ লিখতে হয়।

**He said to me, “What are you writing?” I said, “A letter.”

He asked me what I was writing. I replied that I was writing a letter.

14.   Inverted comma এর মধ্যে well, you see থাকলে indirect speech এ এদের বাদ দেয়া হয়।

**The teacher said, “Well Rana, I shall reward you.”

=The teacher said to Rana that he would reward him.

15.   Direct speech এর শুরুতে So , But থাকলে । So এর পরিবর্তে That is why. এবং But এর পরিবর্তে  Express dissatisfaction বসে।

**Kamal said to me, “I am  weak. So I will not go to the meeting.”

=kamal told me that he was weak that is why he would not go to the meeting.
